Canada's NASAMS air defense system already in Poland and will soon arrive in Ukraine

The NASAMS air defense system purchased by Canada is already on its way and will soon be delivered to Ukraine.

Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair stated this in Ottawa, Ukrinform reports.

Blair confirmed that the system is currently in Poland: "We have been working closely with the Americans and the manufacturer Raytheon on the assembly of this system and its delivery. It is currently in Poland and should be transported across the border soon."

In addition, he also added that earlier Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also had a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, informing him about the imminent arrival of NASAMS.

"We are working with the Ukrainians to deliver this system purchased by Canada for Ukraine as soon as possible. I expect that we will be able to say much more soon," the Canadian Defense Minister indicated.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Canada sent Ukraine the NASAMS air defense system, President Volodymyr Zelensky expects it in Ukraine by the end of 2024.

Norway also announced the allocation of NOK 1 billion (about USD 92.7 million) to strengthen Ukraine's air defense.

The U.S. has allocated a new aid package to Ukraine: it includes a Patriot battery, ammunition for HIMARS and NASAMS.

Also, in early November, Lithuania provided Ukraine with two launchers for the NASAMS surface-to-air missile systems, equipment for their work and SUVs.
