Fico states that he will oppose Ukraine's accession to NATO as long as he is Prime Minister of Slovakia

The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, once again spoke out against Ukraine's accession to NATO and stated that he will oppose the country's admission to the Alliance as long as he is the Slovak Prime Minister. At the same time, he supported Ukraine's accession to the EU.

He said this in an interview with Chinese television, Voice of America reports.

For example, Fico claimed that he supports humanitarian and economic aid to Ukraine, and also declared the desirability of Ukrainian accession to the EU. At the same time, he declared that he would oppose Ukraine's membership in NATO because, in his opinion, it could lead to "the outbreak of the third world war."

In addition, he added that as long as he is the Slovak Prime Minister, he will oppose the admission of Ukraine to the North Atlantic Alliance, in which Slovakia itself has been a member since 2004.

"Ukraine deserves an honest and fair peace that complies with the established rules. Ukraine can be a part of the EU, but it cannot be a member of NATO at all," Fico emphasized.

The Slovak Prime Minister also repeated his objections to international sanctions against russia, which Beijing also disagrees with. He called himself a "friend of China" and accused European allies of "Sinophobia" and said that "every word of the Chinese leadership deserves serious attention."

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Fico previously stated that Slovakia supports Ukraine's membership in the European Union without any conditions.

In addition, according to him, Slovakia will participate in any form of peace initiative to end the war in Ukraine.
