Ukraine will receive another IRIS-T air defense system from Germany — Zelenskyy

Ukraine will receive the sixth IRIS-T air defense system from Germany by the end of 2024.

The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this after a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He announced this on his Telegram channel.

During the conversation, Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for significant defense assistance from Germany and its leadership role in consolidating international support for Ukraine.

Olaf Scholz confirmed that Ukraine will receive the sixth IRIS-T air defense system by the end of the year, and also discussed the delivery of additional systems next year.

The leaders coordinated further steps to strengthen defense and political support for Ukraine and agreed on the need to preserve the Ramstein format, including holding another meeting of the coordination group.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy also emphasized the importance of presenting the Ukrainian vision of a just and lasting peace at the G20 summit in Brazil and thanked Germany for its support in this process.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Taiwan secretly transferred 15 of its outdated HAWK air defense systems manufactured by the American company Raytheon to Ukraine.

The Minister of Defense of Spain, Margarita Robles, announced the urgent transfer of a MIM-23 Hawk anti-aircraft missile complex to Ukraine.
