Execution of unarmed prisoner of war: prosecutor's office starts investigation
The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has started a pre-trial investigation after a video showing the execution of a Ukrainian prisoner went viral on social media.
The Prosecutor General’s Office has reported this.
The video appeared on one of the Telegram channels. In the footage, the russians capture a Ukrainian serviceman: he lies on the ground and shows that he surrenders and that he has no weapons. Despite this, he is shot at close range.
They opened a pre-trial investigation into the fact of a war crime — this is Part 2 of Art. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The SSU is conducting the investigation in the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 27, the leadership of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office informed about the shooting of civilians by the russian occupiers in Selydove, Donetsk Region.
Also, russian terrorists shot two Ukrainian prisoners of war near Selydove.
Recall that in almost three years since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of russia into Ukraine, 93 cases of execution of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the battlefield have been established.
