In the Pokrovsk Axis, the prosecutor's office recorded the shooting of six captured soldiers of the Defense Forces of Ukraine by the russian occupiers. These crimes took place on October 23 and November 1.
This was reported by the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office.
So, on October 23, 2024, at 5:17 p.m., representatives of the armed forces of the russian federation captured three Ukrainian servicemen during an attack on the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of Selydove, Donetsk Region.
"After some time, the occupiers shot unarmed prisoners of war," the prosecutor's office said.
In addition, on November 1, 2024 at 02:00 p.m., russian troops committed another crime in the same Pokrovsk Axis. According to the department, during the assault on the fortifications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, three Ukrainian soldiers were captured by the occupiers, after which they were killed with automatic weapons.
"The killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and qualifies as a serious international crime," the prosecutor's office emphasized.
Under the procedural guidance of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, pre-trial investigations were started in criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes that caused the death of people (Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Institute for the Study of War emphasized that the russian occupiers have recently increased the number of executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war.
In particular, it is known about more than 100 servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who were executed by the aggressor state of russia after being captured by it.
