Ukraine wants to agree with Hungary not to block invitation to NATO - Zelenskyy
Ukraine wants to negotiate with Hungary so that it does not block Ukraine's invitation to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
Zelenskyy said this during a meeting in Uzhhorod with the heads of territorial communities and districts of the Zakarpattia Region, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
In particular, Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the dialogue between the Hungarian community of Zakarpattia and Hungary.
He noted that Hungary is one of those countries that can partially block Ukraine's Victory Plan.
Zelenskyy said that Ukraine will pass any blockade of Hungary, yet he wants Ukraine to go to victory without the blockades of its neighbors, but on the contrary, with their support.
He said that today a bilateral document between Ukraine and Hungary is being prepared, in particular to remove misunderstandings and challenges of the present, past and future.
"Undoubtedly, part of our bilateral dialogue and document is the issue of security, the alliance itself, NATO itself. Even the wording is very mild from which to start a dialogue with Hungary, namely we ask not to block the invitation of Ukraine to NATO. That is, not to support, not to vote for us, but not to block. Today, this point is in our proposals. We would really like Hungary not to block even such a point," he said.
Zelenskyy noted that the Ukrainian side looks very positively at the prospects of reaching agreements with the Hungarians, and the Hungarian side already has all of Ukraine's proposals.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on October 16, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy presented Ukraine's Victory Plan to the Verkhovna Rada, in particular, the first point of the Victory Plan envisages inviting Ukraine to NATO now, so that Ukraine will join the Alliance after the war.
Zelenskyy also presented the Victory Plan to the leaders of the G7 countries and the European Union.
