President of South Korea confirms that Seoul may start supplying weapons to Ukraine due to North Korea's actions
South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol announced the possible supply of South Korean weapons to Ukraine against the background of news about the arrival of North Korean military personnel in russia to participate in the war on the side of moscow.
According to The Associated Press, Yoon Suk Yeol said this at a meeting with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
According to him, sending North Korean troops to russia and their possible participation in the war against Ukraine is a provocation that threatens global security not only on the Korean Peninsula, but also in Europe.
South Korea's President said Seoul's steps could potentially include sending weapons to Ukraine, which would mark a departure from a long-standing policy of refusing to supply weapons to countries actively involved in the conflict.
"If North Korea dispatches special forces to the Ukraine war as part of Russia-North Korea cooperation, we will support Ukraine in stages and also review and implement measures necessary for security on the Korean Peninsula," the agency quoted Yoon Suk Yeol as saying.
He added that a review of Seoul's policy of refusing direct deliveries of lethal weapons would depend on Pyongyang's level of military activity.
Recall that on October 22, the South Korean agency Yonhap reported with reference to an unnamed government official that South Korea is considering the possibility of providing weapons to Ukraine.
Earlier, South Korean intelligence said that the DPRK sent not only ground troops to russia, but also combat aircraft pilots.
And yesterday, October 24, the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the first units of the North Korean army had arrived in the Kursk Oblast.
