Turkey blocks export of military goods to russia after warning from US - Financial Times
Turkey secretly banned the export of American military equipment to russia after a warning from Washington about "consequences" for trading with the aggressor.
This was reported by the British newspaper Financial Times.
Citing three people familiar with the matter, the publication said that in recent weeks, Turkey has adjusted its customs system to block the export of more than 40 categories of goods of American origin, which the United States and its Western allies consider vital to russia's aggression against Ukraine.
"The tacit ban on the export of military goods to russia is the latest sign that Turkey is moving away from the role of a lifeline against Western sanctions, which it assumed at the beginning of the war," the article says.
According to official Turkish government statistics, exports of these goods rose sharply after russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, rising from about USD 3 million a month at the start of the war to a peak of about USD 38 million in December 2022. In August of this year, it amounted to about USD 4.1 million.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the USA is preparing a new package of sanctions against the aggressor country of russia, aimed at third countries that help the russian federation to carry out its aggression against Ukraine.
At the same time, according to European and American officials, India has become the second largest supplier of critical technologies to russia after China.
We will remind, according to the head of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, russia receives Western components for missiles "in huge quantities".
