Russia admits Saudi Arabia does not want to become BRICS member
Saudi Arabia has apparently rejected an invitation to become a BRICS member. This is indicated by the fact that Riyadh participated as an invited state in the organization's summit held in russia the other day.
This is evidenced by the words of the aide of the russian dictator Yuriy Ushakov, his words are quoted by TASS.
On the morning of October 23, Ushakov said that Saudi Arabia was represented at the BRICS summit by the Kingdom's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.
It should be noted that initially Moscow wanted Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to come to the BRICS summit.
According to Ushakov, the arrival of the head of the foreign policy department of Saudi Arabia means that the kingdom "will not participate in the BRICS summit, but in the outreach/BRICS plus."
As The Moscow Times writes, in January, russia announced that starting in 2024, Saudi Arabia allegedly joined the BRICS organization along with Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Ethiopia.
Two weeks later, the Minister of Trade of Saudi Arabia, Majid Al-Kassabi, said that the information announced in the Kremlin was not true.
At the same time, the Reuters agency reported with reference to its own sources that Riyadh is considering the country's accession to the BRICS.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on October 20, it became known that Brazilian President Lula da Silva will not be able to participate in the BRICS summit due to a head injury he received the day before.
And on October 22, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, said that he refused the invitation of the russian federation to attend the BRICS summit because of meetings with European leaders.
We will remind, on the eve of the BRICS summit, Kazakhstan announced that the country is not going to join the organization in the near future.
At the beginning of October, Cuba announced that it had asked Moscow to accept it into the BRICS.
