Zelenskyy says Trump agreed with his arguments regarding invitation of Ukraine to NATO

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump agreed with his arguments regarding the invitation of Ukraine to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

Zelenskyy said this during a press conference in Brussels, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In particular, Zelenskyy said that during the meeting with Trump, he spoke with him about NATO, cited the example of the Budapest Memorandum, which did not work and did not protect Ukraine from russian aggression.

"In a conversation with Donald Trump, I told him: this is how it works for us, what is the solution: either Ukraine will have nuclear weapons, then it is a defense for us, or we must have some kind of alliance. Apart from NATO, today we do not know of effective alliances... We choose NATO, not nuclear weapons. And I think that Donald Trump heard me. He said: you have fair arguments," Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in September, during a visit to the U.S., Zelenskyy presented the Victory Plan for Ukraine to U.S. President Joe Biden, as well as U.S. presidential candidates Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.

The first point of the Victory Plan envisages inviting Ukraine to NATO now, with Ukraine joining the Alliance after the war.
