France plans to transfer Mirage 2000 fighters to Ukraine next year
France plans to supply Ukraine with Mirage 2000 fighters in the first half of 2025. They are modernized before transfer.
This was announced by the Minister of Defense of the country, Sébastien Lecornu, on his X page (formerly Twitter).
Thus, Lecornu noted that the planes will be equipped with new "air-to-ground" weapons and protection against EW.
"The training of Ukrainian pilots and mechanics continues," Lecornu added.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in June, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that several fourth-generation Mirage 2000 fighter jets will be transferred to Ukraine. Paris will also help Kyiv train pilots.
The Air Force noted at the time, that the Mirage 2000 is a modern aircraft, but the priority for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is still the supply of American F-16s.
Also, on September 6, the Minister of Defense of the Netherlands, Ruben Brekelmans, announced that equipment for the maintenance of F-16 fighters and air-to-air missiles will be handed over to Ukraine.
And on August 31, the American publication The Wall Street Journal wrote that the United States refused to send contractors to Ukraine to maintain F-16 fighters.
