NATO fearing strengthening of russian sabotage if Ukraine is allowed to strike on russian territory
Officials from the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) expect that the lifting of restrictions from Ukraine on strikes deep into russian territory may lead to the strengthening of sabotage operations by the russians.
Unnamed American and European officials told Bloomberg about this.
Interlocutors of the agency said that russia's threats to NATO countries in connection with the fact that Ukraine may be allowed to use Western missiles to strike targets on the territory of the russian federation will probably take the form of increased sabotage.
One of the interlocutors added that russia could also retaliate by directly or indirectly targeting U.S. forces in other regions, such as the Middle East.
Another one noted that if the restrictions were lifted, russia would use the theme of strikes by Western weapons in its propaganda efforts in Africa and Latin America.
Recall that back in May, the British edition of the Financial Times wrote with reference to representatives of Western intelligence services that russia was preparing sabotage operations throughout Europe.
We previously wrote that at the end of August, an explosion occurred in Germany at a defense enterprise that produces IRIS-T anti-aircraft missile complexes.
And a few days before that, it became known that russia wanted to attack a NATO air base in western Germany.
