Ukrhydroenergo informs about state of Kyiv HEPP after russian missile strike

After the russian missile strike on August 26, there is no threat of flooding or a breach of the dam for the Kyiv HEPP. All consequences will be clarified by the end of the week.

This was announced by the director general of Ukrhydroenergo Ihor Syrota on the air of the telethon.

So, he informed that today the rubble after the missile strike is being cleared. Currently, it is impossible to fully assess all the technical consequences, losses and how long it will take to recover.

"But I would like to say that today there is no threat of flooding or a breach of the dam for the Kyiv HEPP. The station will let the water that is available - some part through the unit, and some, if necessary, the gates will be raised. But the station is working, let's say, in the mode in which it can work today. I think we will find out the consequences of the missile strike by the end of the week," Syrota said.

He stressed that the station's employees were not injured as a result of the hit.

"As soon as the air alert started, everyone was in shelters. They are watching these things, and we also emphasize this," he added.

Ukrhydroenergo also emphasized that there is not a single hydroelectric plant in Ukraine today that was not attacked by the russians. In general, HEPPs lost about 40% of their generation.

It will be recalled that earlier the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security and Defense Council, Andrii Kovalenko, said that as a result of the massive russian attack on August 26, there is no threat to the Kyiv HEPP dam, and it is impossible to destroy it with missiles.
