Cabinet approves attraction of USD 3.9 billion grant from US and expects EUR 4.1 billion from EU in September
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the attraction of a grant worth USD 3.9 billion from the United States of America and expects to receive another EUR 4.1 billion from the European Union in September.
This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in his Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Today, the government makes a decision to attract a grant of USD 3.9 billion from the United States of America. The funds will come through the structures of the World Bank," he said.
Shmyhal added that the government is expecting the receipt of this grant in the near future, and will send this money to salaries of rescuers, teachers, doctors, as well as to social support programs.
He also noted that Ukraine successfully fulfilled the indicators of the second quarter of 2024 for the Ukraine Facility program, has a positive assessment from the European Commission, and the government is counting on the next tranche from the EU in the amount of EUR 4.1 billion already in September this year.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in May, the Cabinet of Ministers approved a draft agreement with the United States on receiving USD 7.9 billion in financial and economic support.
In June, Ukraine received EUR 1.9 billion in unconditional financing from the EU within the Ukraine Facility.
