Russia patents new drone, analogue of Iranian kamikaze drone

The russian company Zavod Signal has patented an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which is visually similar to the Iranian Qasef drone. Such drones are used by the Yemeni Houthis, who are Iran's proxies in the region.

The Defense Express portal reports this with reference to the Telegram channel "Tanks. History and modernity. Btvt.info".

According to the patent, Zavod Signal will manufacture the drone using plastic injection molding. The parts made in this way are connected by vibration welding or glue, and then the finished structure is mounted on the power connecting pipe.

As Defense Express reports, it is probably the Zavod Signal enterprise in the city of Ulyanovsk. Formally, it specializes in the production of components and aggregates for the aviation industry and the automotive industry.

At the same time, at the beginning of this year there were reports that Zavod Signal intends to start its own production of drones.

In fact, the Qasef drone can be called a more powerful analogue of the Lancet kamikaze drone, which is produced by the ZALA company, especially in terms of the range of damage and the power of the warhead.

Defense Express believes that there is a possibility that the russians may indeed have started production of Qasef drone analogues.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, at the beginning of July, the Forbes publication wrote with reference to drone expert Samuel Bendett that every second russian drone falls due to the action of friendly electronic warfare systems.

Recall that in May, the Minister of Innovation, Development of Education, Science and Technology Mykhailo Fedorov showed a new EW station for protection against russian drones.

Besides, in the fall of 2023 it became known that the russians had modernized the Lancet kamikaze drones, almost doubling their flight range.
