Rada not cancels customs duties and taxes on main equipment necessary for construction of wind power plants - UWEA

The Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA) declares that bills No. 11258 and No. 11259 adopted by the parliament, which provide for the abolition of customs duties and the charging of VAT on the import of energy equipment into Ukraine, do not apply to the main equipment necessary for the construction of new wind power plants.

This is stated in the message of the association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The list of codes of foreign economic activity does not include UKTZED code 8502 31 00 00 (Electric generator installations and rotating electrical converters: - other electric generator installations: - wind energy). UKTZED code 8502 31 00 00 is used to import into Ukraine the equipment for the construction of wind power plants, namely: wind energy converters - wind turbines consisting of tower, nacelle, hub, blades, power module, control system, light fence set, etc. Accordingly, the main equipment required for the construction of the wind farm will not be exempted from taxation as required by the current situation in the national energy sector, as well as the intentions declared by the state," the message reads.

Thus, according to the report, due to the lack of appropriate tax incentives, the development of wind energy will be significantly slower.
