Okhmatdyt needs UAH 400 million to provide equipment alone - Liashko

The Okhmatdyt National Children's Specialized Hospital needs about UAH 400 to provide equipment alone.

The Ministry of Health has said this in a statement, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

"The list of priority equipment includes more than 55 nomenclature items (a total of 242 pieces of equipment) with an estimated cost of UAH 400 million. We receive many offers from manufacturers and philanthropists regarding its supply, therefore, together with Okhmatdyt, we will coordinate this process for greater efficiency and clear compliance with the needs of the hospital. The equipment will be delivered to the children's hospital upon completion of the renovation of the newest building," said Minister of Health Viktor Liashko.

According to him, work on the restoration of critical medical services in Okhmatdyt continues.

"This is primarily about the operating units, the intensive care unit, and the children's oncology, ophthalmology, urology, and neurosurgery departments, which are to become operational in the newest building of the hospital. Although it was also damaged during the russian missile attack on July 8, the restoration work inside the premises, preparation for glazing and restoration of the facade are already underway. Also, a plan has been developed for the transfer of these departments," said Liashko.

As of the evening of July 11, more than UAH 470 million was collected on the official charity account of Okhmatdyt and the account of the Okhmatdyt foundation.

According to Liashko, three directions have already been determined, in which the funds collected thanks to donations and allocated by the government will be directed.

"Our priorities are the restoration of damaged premises, the creation of opportunities for the provision of critical medical services and the construction of a new building to replace the destroyed and damaged emergency buildings," he said.

At the same time, work on a comprehensive assessment of the damage is ongoing.

"It requires time and scrupulousness, but it will allow for the most efficient allocation of resources. Already next week, the first defective report on the damage suffered by the newly erected building of Okhmatdyt is expected, on the basis of which it is planned to provide medical aid as a priority. After that, Okhmatdyt will announce the collection of tenders for the implementation of restoration works. After the selection of the expert organization, the start date and duration of the works will be determined. In parallel, the process of surveying the facilities of Okhmatdyt, which belong to the city's cultural heritage, as well as technical surveys of other damaged buildings, is taking place. After these surveys are completed, it will be possible to start designing a new building on the site of the destroyed and critically damaged buildings,” Liashko noted.

At the same time, specialists are already engaged in the preparation of the medical task, which precedes the design work.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Tuesday the Minister of Interior Affairs Ihor Klymenko announced that emergency and rescue work on the territory of Okhmatdyt in Kyiv has been completed.
