Tomorrow there will be power outages throughout day due to cloudiness - Ukrenergo

Hourly power outage schedules will be in effect for industrial and household consumers throughout the territory of Ukraine from 12:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. on May 23. The power supply of critical infrastructure facilities, which perform the function of providing life support to the population, is not limited.

This is stated in the message of Ukrenergo on Facebook on Wednesday, May 22.

The company noted that due to cloudiness, the deficit in the energy system will increase, as the production of electricity by solar power plants will decrease. 

"Outages can be applied when the defined consumption limits are exceeded, which the Dispatch Center of Ukrenergo reports to each oblenergo every evening. You can find out when exactly the outages will be applied in your region in the consumer's office, on the official websites of oblenergos, as well as on their pages in social networks," the statement said.

As reported by the Ukrainian News agency, on May 22, the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Energy and the Ukrenergo national energy company to develop a draft of the government's resolution regarding fair schedules of electricity outages for consumers.

On May 16, the director of the Energy Research Center Oleksandr Kharchenko said that Ukraine will have to live with a shortage of electricity for at least the next two years.

Also, on May 16, Chairman of the Board of the Ukrenergo NEC Volodymyr Kudrytskyi said that the situation in the energy system may improve as early as next week, but it will not be possible to completely avoid outages either in summer or autumn.
