PGO Charges Hirkin And Bezler With Murder And Torture

The press service of the Prosecutor-General's Office announced this in a statement.

The Prosecutor-General's Office (PGO) has charged Ihor Hirkin, a former "minister of defense" in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, and Igor Bezler, a lieutenant colonel in Russia's Main Intelligence Directorate, with imprisonment, kidnapping, premeditated murder, and torture.

The press service of the Prosecutor-General's Office announced this in a statement.

"On October 24, the Prosecutor-General's Office approved a decision to charge the leaders of illegal armed formations Hirkin with criminal offenses punishable under Section 3 of Article 27, Section 3 of Article 146, Section 3 of Article 27, Section 2 of Article 127, Section 3 of Article 27, and paragraphs 1, 3, 4 of Section 2 of Article 115 of the Penal Code (unlawful imprisonment or kidnapping; torture, premeditated murder) and Bezler with criminal offenses punishable under Section 3 of Article 27 and Section 3 of Article 146 of the Penal Code," the statement said.

In addition, according to the statement, the Prosecutor-General's Office is in charge of the procedural aspects of the criminal proceedings involving the imprisonment and premeditated murders of pro-Ukrainian activists Yurii Popravka, Volodymyr Rybak, and Ivan Diakovskyi.

The Prosecutor-General's Office is currently establishing the identities of all the people involved in the commission of these criminal offenses.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Khmelnytskyi Regional Appeal Court has sentenced a former commander of a military unit to four years in prison for the destruction of eight Fagot and Metis precision antitank missiles.
