Ukrainian Navy confirms that russia shot down its own fighter over occupied Sevastopol

Russian air defense on March 28, shot down its own Su-27 fighter over the temporarily occupied Crimea. The pilot managed to escape.

A spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy Dmytro Pletenchuk announced this on the air of the telethon.

"We confirm that this aircraft belonged to the Russian Federation and that it was destroyed by their means," he said.

According to the Navy spokesman, at that time there was alarm in Sevastopol and the air defense was on alert.

"Apparently, someone wanted to get a medal for shooting down an aircraft, so he did not sort it out: was it his own or someone else's and shot down his plane," Pletenchuk added.

According to the Navy spokesman, the pilot of the Su-27 survived, but the aircraft itself was actually destroyed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the successes of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in destroying russian aircraft led to the fact that the occupiers reduced the frequency of the use of guided aerial bombs. But this does not mean that the bombing stopped altogether.

On March 2, the command of the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the downing of one russian fighter-bomber Su-34.
