Exports by Ukrainian sea corridor exceeds indicators of "grain initiative" - Kubrakov
The Ukrainian sea corridor exported 33.8 million tons of cargo in 7 months, which is more than was exported during the year of operation of the "grain initiative."
This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"We opened the corridor in August 2023 - a month later, as the Russian Federation finally left the "grain initiative" and launched systemic attacks on port infrastructure and agro-power. In the first month, we had single vessels, mainly managed to withdraw vessels blocked since the beginning of the full-scale invasion... Today, 1,140 ships have passed through the Ukrainian corridor, which exported 33.8 million tons of cargo to 40 countries. Of these, 23.1 million tons are products of Ukrainian farmers," said Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine - Minister for the Development of Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Oleksandr Kubrakov.
According to him, currently 150 ships are waiting for the approach to the ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi, which should export almost 5 million tons of cargo.
"We can say that we reached almost pre-war export volumes from the ports of Great Odesa, and also introduced a much more effective logistical path without the participation of the aggressor state, continuing to be a guarantor of food security of the world," Kubrakov said.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 21, 2023, the Resilient Africa bulk carrier arrived in the Turkish Bosphorus Strait.
This is the first grain ship from Ukraine, which passed through the Black Sea along a temporary corridor.
On July 17, 2023, russia announced the withdrawal of guarantees for the safety of shipping in the Black Sea to provide a "grain corridor."
