Ovostar Union reduces egg production by 1% to 1.5 billion

In 2023, the largest producer of egg products, the Ovostar Union company (Kyiv), reduced the production of eggs by 1%, or by 15 million, year over year to 1.531 billion eggs.

This follows from a statement by the company, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

In the reporting period, the volume of sales in the egg segment decreased by 10% to 0.97 billion eggs.

At the same time, in 2023 compared to 2022, the company increased the export of eggs by 18.6% to 344 million.

In addition, the company reduced production of dry egg products by 1% to 2,512 tons in 2023, while production of liquid egg products increased by 20% year over year to 12,998 tons.

The total number of chickens increased by 6.9% to 7.7 million at the end of 2023; the number of laying hens was 6.4 million compared to 6 million in 2022.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in 2022, the company reduced egg production by 8.6%, or by 145 million pieces, year over year to 1.546 billion eggs.

The Ovostar Union group includes several enterprises, including the poultry farms Ukraina and Stavyshchanska, the factory of egg products Ovostar.

The group produces and sells eggs under the name Yasensvit and other brands, as well as under a private label for retail chains and egg products under the name Ovostar.

Cypriot Prime One Capital Ltd, which is controlled by Ovostar Union CEO Borys Belikov and board member Vitalii Veresenko, owns 67.93% of the company.
