Shmyhal plans to meet with Slovak Prime Minister Fico to discuss obstacles to EU allocation of EUR 50 billion to Ukraine

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal plans to meet with Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico in the coming weeks to discuss all urgent issues and remove possible obstacles to the European Union's allocation of EUR 50 billion to Ukraine.

Shmyhal announced this in the Telegram channel, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"In the coming weeks, we are also planning a meeting with the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, to discuss all urgent issues and remove possible obstacles on the way to the implementation of the Ukraine Facility," he wrote.

Shmyhal noted that the summit of the European Council will be held on February 1 and Ukraine expects that there will be a positive decision on the allocation of financial support to Ukraine in the amount of EUR 50 billion under the Ukraine Facility program.

He added that this program involves not only the allocation of funds, but also the systemic transformation of Ukraine on the way to the EU.

"Our government has created a draft plan and vision for this process. We have received comments from the European Commission, which we are already working on," Shmyhal wrote.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in January, the Prime Minister of Slovakia, Fico, expressed his support for Hungary's decision to impose a veto on allocation of EUR 50 billion from the European Union budget to help Ukraine.

In December, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban blocked the allocation of EUR 50 billion by the European Union to Ukraine.
