Ihnat explains how strikes on Luhansk and Berdiansk airfields will help AFU

Hitting the airfields of the russian invaders is important for Ukraine, because helicopters operating close to the front line and can hit the military equipment of the Ukrainian forces are based there.

This was stated by the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yurii Ihnat, on Radio Svoboda, commenting on the hitting of russian helicopters at airfields near occupied Luhansk and Berdiansk.

"What, how and with what was affected, I have no opportunity to tell you about it. But in the end, the destruction of such equipment as the enemy's helicopters, which it uses - Ka-52, Mi-24 - of course, this is good for us. Because the helicopters together with tactical aviation constantly work at the front and on the front line. The enemy is trying to keep the helicopters closer to the battle line, as was the case in Chornobayivka. And here Luhansk, Berdiansk are not far from the front line... Unfortunately, the occupiers have more modern helicopter equipment, more modern weapons. There are anti-tank guided missiles with a long range of use. Helicopters are constantly operating 10+ kilometers from the combat line. Therefore, defeating such equipment is quite important for us," Ihnat explained.

According to him, in order to protect all the objects important for russia, the military command of the russian federation must have a sufficient number of air defense means, and this "is not always possible."
