Ukraine retains 25th position on Worldsteel rating by volume of steel production in H1
In the first half of 2023, Ukraine retained its 25th position on the rating of the international association Worldsteel by the volume of steel production.
This follows from a statement by the Ukrmetalurgprom association, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
According to the production results in the first half of 2023, Ukraine took the 25th position among 64 countries - steel producers with a result of 2.83 million tons, down 37.7% year over year.
The first place traditionally belongs to China: Chinese metallurgists smelted 535.64 million tons of steel in the first half of 2023, up 1.3% year over year.
China's share in world steel production is 56.8%.
The second place belongs to India (production up 7.4% to 67.9 million tons), the third place to Japan (down 4.7% to 43.8 million tons), the fourth place to the United States (down 2.9% to 39.9 million tons), fifth - Russia (up 1.1% to 37.5 million tons), sixth - South Korea (down 0.5% to 33.7 million tons), seventh - Germany (down 5.3% to 18.5 million tons), eighth - Iran (up 4.8% to 16.1 million tons), ninth - Brazil (down 8.9% to 16 million tons), the tenth – Turkiye (down 16.3% to 15.9 million tons).
World steel production during the observed period made 943.9 million tons, down 1.13% year over year.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Ukraine took 24th place in the ranking of the international association Worldsteel in terms of steel production in 2022.
