Agrarians Harvest 23.4 Million Tons Of Grain
As of August 19, agricultural enterprises have harvested 23.4 million tons of early grain and leguminous crops from an area of 6.1 million hectares (55%) at the yield of 38.2 centners per hectare.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food has said this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
In particular, 17.4 million tons of wheat (yield - 40.4 centners per hectare) were threshed on an area of 4.3 million hectares (91%); barley - 5.3 million tons (yield - 34.5 centners per hectare) on an area of 1.5 million hectares (96%); peas - 243,700 tons (yield - 22.6 centners per hectare) on an area of 108,000 hectares (97%); millet - 7,700 tons (yield - 23.9 centners per hectare) on an area of 3,200 hectares (7%).
Besides, winter rapeseed was harvested on an area of 1,077,000 hectares (98%), 3.1 million tons of seeds were threshed with a yield of 28.4 centners per hectare.
According to the report, the highest yield of grain and leguminous crops was among the agrarians of Khmelnytskyi region - 62 centners per hectare.
The leaders in harvesting are: Mykolaiv region - 86%, Odesa region - 85%, Volyn and Dnipropetrovsk regions - 70%, Kirovohrad region - 60%.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the Ukrainian Grain Association raised the forecast of grain and oilseeds harvest this year by 4.4%, or 2.9 million tons, to 69.4 million tons.
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food predicts a decrease in cereal and oilseed crops by 38.7%, or 41 million tons, to 65 million tons in 2022 compared to 2021.
Farmers collected 106 million tons of grain, legumes and oilseeds in 2021, which is the largest indicator in the history of independent Ukraine.
More than 84 million tons of grain and legumes was collected, oilseeds - 22.6 million tons.
