Social Policy Ministry: 90% Of Buildings Not Meeting Norms Regarding Needs Of Handicapped People

The Social Policy Ministry of Ukraine says that over 90% of buildings do not meet norms regarding needs of handicapped people.

The press service of the Social Policy Ministry announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The statement reads that a number of draft bills have been registered at the Verkhovna Rada and their endorsement would help resolve the problem and will enhance responsibility of officials for the failure to meet the norms.

The statement reads that the government will introduce amendments to the labor legislation envisaging incentives for employers to hire handicapped people.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, Vice Prime Minister Pavlo Rozenko says 77% of schools have provided access of handicapped children to the ground floors of schools and 0.4% to the first floors of schools.
