Cabinet Suggesting Rada Allow ICC To Investigate Crimes Committed In Ukraine Upon Own Initiative

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine suggests that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine allow the International Criminal Court (ICC; the Hague (the Kingdom of the Netherlands)) to investigate crimes committed in Ukraine upon own initiative.

Respective bill was approved at the Wednesday meeting of the Ukrainian Government.

The Government suggests establishment of required legal framework to cooperate with the ICC prior to the ratification of the Roman Statute of the International Criminal Court

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on September 8, 2015, Ukraine informed the ICC about acknowledgement of its jurisdiction regarding commission of crimes against humanity and military crimes by Russian top officials and heads of terrorist organizations Donetsk and Luhansk people's republics (DPR and LPR).
