Former Prosecutor General Shokin Requests Higher Administrative Court To Reinstate Him At Post
Viktor Shokin, former prosecutor general, requests the Higher Administrative Court to void as illegal a decree of President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on his dismissal from the post and a resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approving his dismissal from the post.
The press service of the Higher Administrative Court announced this in a statement, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
"Defendants in the case are the President and the Verkhovna Rada," said an employee of the Higher Administrative Court.
According to the employee, the Higher Administrative Court has opened a case and the first sitting in the case is set for April 10, 2017.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on March 29, 2016, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine voted to dismiss Viktor Shokin from the post of the prosecutor general.
On April 3, 2016, President Petro Poroshenko signed a presidential decree to dismiss Viktor Shokin from the post.
