Poroshenko Calls On EU To Complete Visa Liberalization Process For Ukraine Immediately
President Petro Poroshenko has called on the European Union to complete the process of introduction of visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens immediately.
Poroshenko made the call in a statement on Twitter, Ukrainian News reports.
At the same time, Poroshenko welcomed the EU Council's decision at the level of ambassadors on introduction of visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Committee of Permanent Representatives in the European Union (COREPER) has approved commencement of negotiations between the EU Council and the European Parliament on liberalization of the EU's visa regime for Ukrainian citizens.
At the same time, the EU Council believes that visa liberalization for Ukraine should enter into force at the same time as the new suspension mechanism enters into force.
Poroshenko recently expressed confidence that the European Union would introduce visa-free travel for Ukrainian citizens by November 24 and later expressed the hope that the European Union would consider a suspension mechanism for the visa-free regime before the Ukraine-EU summit scheduled for November 24.
