Romania downed drones violating airspace for third day in a row

Today, July 26, fighter jets were scrambled in Romania to shoot down a drone that invaded the country's airspace. This is the third drone shot down in the past three days.

This was announced by Acting Defense Minister Radu Miruță.

"Another drone that illegally invaded Romanian airspace was shot down today by the Romanian military. This is the third drone neutralized in three days in a row," the report says.

In particular, at 10:13, an F-16 Fighting Falcon of the Romanian Air Force shot down a drone that had entered Romanian airspace without permission.

The drone was detected by the Ministry of Defense radars outside Romanian airspace before it entered the country. It entered the country at 10:08 am over territorial waters, vertically 25 km southeast of Sulina, and five minutes later was safely neutralized over the Black Sea, in Romanian territorial waters.

"Each such incident confirms that russia's aggressive war against Ukraine continues to create risks beyond Ukraine's borders. Romania will continue to resolutely defend its sovereignty and airspace, but these provocations must stop!" Miruță stressed.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 24, four fighter jets took to the sky to neutralize a drone that violated Romanian airspace - two Romanian F-16 fighters and two Italian Eurofighter fighters.
