ICC's chief prosecutor, who issued arrest warrant for putin, dismissed

Today, July 24, members of the International Criminal Court (ICC) voted to dismiss Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan amid allegations of sexual harassment.

Reuters reported this, citing two diplomatic sources.

On Friday, ICC member states voted to remove Karim Khan from his position as prosecutor in connection with allegations of sexual harassment.

According to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity, 82 of the court’s 125 member states voted to remove the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, Khan denies the allegations. As a reminder, in June, Karim Khan was suspended from his duties following an investigation into sexual harassment allegations brought against him.

In 2023, Karim Khan issued an arrest warrant for russian dictator vladimir putin and Children’s Rights Commissioner Maria Lvova-Belova for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to russia. In addition, in 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Benjamin Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant on charges of war crimes in the Gaza Strip. In response, russia issued an arrest warrant for ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan.
