Russia is doing to Black Sea what Iran is doing to Strait of Hormuz - Sybiha

Russia’s escalating acts of terror against civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea pose a serious threat to global food security. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha made this statement on X, according to the Ukrainian News agency. 

“Russia is doing to the Black Sea and food security what Iran did to the Strait of Hormuz and energy security,” he emphasized.

According to Sybiha, if moscow does not stop its attacks on civilian vessels in the Black Sea, the resulting spike in food prices will hit the most vulnerable segments of the population, especially in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.

“We need global solidarity and strong voices from the countries in these regions to appeal to Putin and demand an immediate end to attacks on freedom of navigation in the Black Sea… Do not remain silent! Act now to stop Russian terror, the weaponization of food, and the use of hunger as a tool of war,” the minister emphasized.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi stated that the deteriorating security situation in the Black Sea has led to a temporary suspension of ships entering Ukrainian ports.
