Rada appoints Koretskyi's new Cabinet

The Verkhovna Rada has appointed the new Cabinet of Ministers led by the newly appointed Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi. Resolution No. 15415 on the formation of the government was passed with 264 MPs voting in favor, exceeding the minimum required 226 votes.

The new composition of Koretskyi’s government:

Denys Shmyhal remains in office as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy;

Tetiana Berezhna remains in her position as Deputy Prime Minister for Humanitarian Policy and Minister of Culture;

Matvii Bidnyi remains Minister of Youth and Sports;

Viktor Liashko remains Minister of Health;

Serhii Marchenko remains in his position as Minister of Finance;

Denys Uliutin remains in his position as Minister of Social Policy, Family, and Unity;

Vsevolod Chentsov (who had served as Ukraine’s representative to the European Union since August 2021) replaced Taras Kachka as Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration;

Andrii Butenko, head of the National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, replaced Oksen Lisovyi as Minister of Education and Science;

Ivan Vyhivskyi, head of the National Police, replaced Ihor Klymenko as Minister of Internal Affairs;

Vitalii Kim, head of the Mykolaiv Regional State Administration, replaced Nataliia Kalmykova as Minister for Veterans’ Affairs;

Oleksandr Kravchenko, managing partner of the Kyiv office of the international consulting firm McKinsey & Company, became Minister of Economy and Environment, replacing Oleksii Sobolev as Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture;

Taras Vysotskyi, Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, became Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food, a move that entails the creation of a separate Ministry of Agrarian Policy;

Vitalii Bezghin, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People faction (on the Verkhovna Rada Committee on the Organization of State Power, Local Self-Government, Regional Development, and Urban Planning), became Minister for Communities, Territories, and Internally Displaced Persons; he thus partially replaced Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery—Minister of Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba;

Mykola Kalashnyk, head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, became Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport;

Denys Maslov, a member of parliament from the Servant of the People faction (Chair of the Committee on Legal Policy), became Minister of Justice;

Oksana Ferchuk, Deputy Minister of Defense for Digital Development, Digital Transformation, and Digitalization, was appointed Minister of Digital Transformation.

Separately, MPs are to vote on the appointments of the Minister of Defense and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, whom the President submits to the Rada for approval. At this time, there are no registered draft resolutions from Zelenskyy with nominations for these ministers on the Rada’s website.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 16, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Serhii Koretskyi, the chairman of the board of the national joint-stock company Naftogaz of Ukraine, as the new prime minister.

On July 14, the Verkhovna Rada accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. In accordance with the Constitution, the resignation of the prime minister results in the resignation of the entire Cabinet of Ministers.
