The "Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat" oil refining complex, located in the Republic of Bashkortostan in the aggressor country of russia, suspended production following an attack by Ukrainian drones on Tuesday, July 14.

Reuters reported this, citing its own sources.

Unnamed sources told the agency that the drones struck both crude oil primary refining units. The units were damaged and shut down.

In addition, the attack caused damage to some secondary refining units and a number of other pieces of equipment.

According to the sources, the CDU-6 crude oil distillation unit, with a capacity of 17,100 metric tons per day, has been shut down, as well as the CDU-4 crude oil distillation unit, with a capacity of 11,400 metric tons of crude oil and gas condensate per day.

According to these sources, repairs to the damaged equipment could take several weeks or even months.

Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat produces gasoline, diesel fuel, and jet fuel, as well as liquefied gases, butyl alcohol, polyethylene, polystyrene, and ammonia.

According to industry sources, in 2024 the complex processed 7.2 million metric tons of crude oil, accounting for about 2.7% of russia’s total crude oil refining volume.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 10, Reuters reported that gasoline production in russia had fallen to 65% of average seasonal consumption.

Also on July 10, the russian government acknowledged for the first time that the country’s fuel shortage was linked to Ukraine’s strikes on oil refineries.

As a reminder, on July 8, russia imposed a ban on diesel fuel exports. In early June, the country banned the export of jet fuel, and in April, it banned gasoline exports.
