Iranian missiles attacked two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. As a result of the attack, one crew member was killed, eight more people were injured, including two Ukrainian citizens.
This is reported by Reuters.
What is known
According to the Ministry of Defense of the United Arab Emirates, the Mombasa and Al Bahiyah tankers, which were in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz in the territorial waters of Oman, were hit.
One sailor was killed on board the Mombasa tanker. Eight more crew members were injured, four of whom are in serious condition.
According to the UAE authorities, six Indian citizens and two Ukrainian citizens are among the injured.
After the missile strike, fires broke out on both ships. They were localized and extinguished.
Reaction of the parties
The UAE authorities called the shelling a "blatant attack" and stated that they reserve the right to respond to such actions.
At the same time, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said that its forces attacked two "violating vessels" that, according to Tehran, ignored warnings and tried to pass through a mined area.
Iran also accused the United States of allegedly encouraging the ships to move along this route.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, on July 10, US President Donald Trump said that Iran had asked to continue negotiations, and the US agreed, but the June ceasefire "is over."
