US Senator Lindsey Graham, who died on July 11, had been working in the weeks leading up to his death to strengthen sanctions against russia, the aggressor nation. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy shared this on his Telegram channel.

"We are deeply saddened by the news of the death of US Senator Lindsey Graham. Lindsey was a true defender of freedom and the values that make our world a safer place. He visited Ukraine ten times during the years of Russia’s full-scale invasion and was here, alongside our people, when it was needed most. We were in constant dialogue, which I will miss. Just in the last week, we met twice, the President wrote.

According to Zelenskyy, Graham actively promoted bipartisan and bicameral support for Ukraine.

“In recent weeks, he worked on important initiatives that could help bring peace closer, in particular on strengthening sanctions against Russia. We will always be especially grateful for his words of respect for our people and for the courage of Ukraine’s defenders. America and the world have lost a resolute leader, the President added.
