Two men arrested in Poznań for coming to Ukrainian businesswoman's office "looking for Bandera"
In Poznań, police have detained two men who staged a provocation in the office of Ukrainian businesswoman Natalia Fedoriak. They came to the premises, filmed the woman on video, and stated that they wanted to check whether "her company supports Stepan Bandera."
This was reported by the Polish publication Onet.
The incident occurred on July 3 in the building of the University of Economics in Poznań, where Natalia Fedoriak rents an office. According to the publication, two men tried to get inside the room and inspect it, but the woman did not let them in.
After that, the Ukrainian woman filed a complaint with the police.
Under what articles are the police investigating the case?
Polish police reported that they are investigating the case under articles of defamation and distribution of a video recording that could humiliate the victim.
The court also banned the suspects from approaching the woman. The men themselves have not pleaded guilty.
Under Polish law, they face:
- a fine;
- restriction of liberty;
- or up to one year in prison.
According to Onet, the suspects are associated with the far-right KKP party, which is represented by Polish politician Grzegorz Braun.
Braun has repeatedly made anti-Ukrainian statements. He was one of the initiators of the blockade of the Ukrainian-Polish border, criticized the stay of Ukrainian refugees in Poland, and became the only member of the Polish Sejm who, in January 2022, did not support a resolution calling on the EU and NATO to help Ukraine in the war against russia.
How a Ukrainian woman reacted to the provocation about Bandera
According to the Rzeczpospolita publication, the victim, Natalia Fedoriak, is the owner of the Prolegalization company, which helps foreigners legalize their stay in Poland.
In the released video, the men stated that "Ukraine is hostile to Poland." In response, the woman did not succumb to provocations and remained calm.
"I was calm because I knew that panic and stress would not help me. This is probably a natural protective reaction - a person knows that he must defend himself, react to the essence and not succumb to any provocations," said Natalia Fedoriak.
As a reminder, attackers tried to burn down the Ukrainian restaurant murmur.warsaw in Warsaw.
