Court refuses to release ex-MP Hunko from correctional colony due to illness
The Voznesenskyi City District Court of the Mykolaiv Region refused to release former Verkhovna Rada member Anatolii Hunko from serving his sentence, who was previously sentenced to 4 years in prison.
This is evidenced by court materials, Ukrainian News Agency reports.
The Voznesenskyi City District Court received a petition from the local correctional colony for release from serving his sentence due to the illness of former MP Hunko.
However, the court refused.
The court decision was made on June 30.
"To grant the application of the state institution "Voznesensk Correctional Colony No. 72" for release from serving a sentence due to illness, assigned on the basis of the resolution of the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court dated February 9, 2026 - to refuse," the court's decision states.
As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in March 2025, the High Anti-Corruption Court found Verkhovna Rada member Anatolii Hunko guilty of incitement to bribery and fraud and sentenced him to 7 years in prison with a ban on holding certain positions for 3 years and confiscation of all property.
Later, the Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the term of imprisonment to 4 years.
Hunko was caught illegally receiving USD 85,000 for securing the lease of state lands of the NAAS of Ukraine to a private enterprise.
