Air defense forces in Odesa Region will be reinforced with helicopters to shoot down enemy drones
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed strengthening the defense of the Odesa Region against attacks by Russia, the aggressor nation, specifically increasing the number of helicopters to counter drones. The head of state announced this on his Facebook page on Saturday, July 4.
While in the Odesa Region, Zelenskyy held a coordination meeting with the Command of the Ukrainian Navy regarding security in the southern region. According to him, the main focus was on countering the aggressor’s constant air attacks with Shahed drones and missiles, as well as threats at sea.
“We also discussed our diplomatic efforts, strengthening communication systems, mine protection, and the training and support of marines. We discussed increasing the number of helicopters to bolster air defense in the region to counter drones,” the President emphasized.
Military officials presented the “Neptune” and “Harpoon” missile systems, as well as the latest drones and torpedoes. In addition, they discussed what else is needed to enhance the Navy’s combat capabilities.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on July 4, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi stated that russia, the aggressor nation, is amassing resources and forces to launch new massive strikes against Ukraine.
