Cabinet completes formation of supervisory boards of Energoatom and Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine

The Cabinet of Ministers has completed the formation of the supervisory boards of the joint-stock company National Nuclear Energy Generating Company 'Energoatom' and the company Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU).

This is stated in a press release from the Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

The statement notes that Dominique Minière and Matthew Murray have been appointed as independent members of the supervisory board of JSC NNEGC Energoatom.

The government also approved the appointment of Yuriy Butsa as the state representative on the supervisory board of LLC Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine.

These appointments and the approval of the candidates are part of the government’s policy to reform corporate governance at state-owned enterprises in the fuel and energy sector.

Dominique Minière is a citizen of France and Canada and a nuclear energy executive with over 35 years of experience.

Matthew Murray is a US citizen and an expert in governance, anti-corruption policy, and compliance with over 30 years of experience in government agencies, international organizations, and academic institutions.

Yurii Butsa is a citizen of Ukraine and an expert in public finance, public debt management, and corporate governance. He earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (2005) and a master’s degree in economics from Central European University in Budapest (2008).

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, in late January, the Cabinet of Ministers appointed a new composition of the supervisory board of NNEGC Energoatom based on a recommendation from the nomination committee.

On February 7, the supervisory board of the company Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU) approved the appointment of Nataliia Boiko as acting CEO of GTSOU.

JSC Energoatom is Ukraine’s largest power-generating company and the operator of the national nuclear power fleet, which accounts for over 55% of the country’s electricity production and is one of the key elements of the state’s energy security.

Since January 1, 2020, the company Main Gas Pipelines of Ukraine has been performing management functions for the state-owned enterprise Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine.

The total length of the main gas pipelines in the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine network is 33,080 km, with a throughput capacity of 281 billion cubic meters of gas per year at the inlet and 146 billion cubic meters at the outlet.

The GTS includes 57 compressor stations and 1,390 gas distribution stations.
