Ukrainian National Pantheon to be created on territory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra - OUN
The Ukrainian National Pantheon will be created on the territory of the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv.
The Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) announced this on Facebook, the Ukrainian News agency reports.
"The Ukrainian National Pantheon will be created on the territory of the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra in Kyiv. The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted a corresponding resolution," the message says.
It is noted that the government has instructed to develop the concept and structure of the Pantheon, hold public and expert discussions, and provide scientific support for its creation.
The Ministry of Culture must determine the exact location of the memorial complex on the territory of the Lavra and hold an architectural competition for the best project of the Pantheon.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, has been instructed to work out the issue of reburial of prominent fighters for the independence of Ukraine and other prominent figures buried abroad, after obtaining the necessary permits from other states.
The Strategic Communications Center, established under the Ministry of Culture, also reported on Telegram that the Pantheon will be located in the historical part of the capital, on the territory of the National Reserve Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Iryna Vereshchuk also reported on Telegram on July 1 that the government had adopted a resolution on the establishment of the Ukrainian National Pantheon, which is aimed at organizing practical steps: determining the location of the Pantheon, holding an architectural competition, forming a list of prominent Ukrainians, resolving financing issues and other necessary organizational measures.
Currently, there is no resolution on the establishment of the Ukrainian National Pantheon on the government website.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, on Wednesday, July 1, the Verkhovna Rada approved a bill initiated by Zelenskyy on the creation of a Ukrainian National Pantheon in Kyiv to honor the most prominent representatives of the Ukrainian nation, including, in particular, the leadership of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
Zelenskyy announced that he intends to immediately sign this law.
There is no information on the Verkhovna Rada website yet about the President signing this law.
