Russians conduct drills to repel marine landing in Crimea - media reports
Servicemen of the russian aggressor nation’s army allegedly conducted command-and-staff exercises during which they simulated repelling a Ukrainian Defense Forces amphibious landing in occupied Crimea. According to The Insider, russian military expert Viktor Murakhovsky reported this.
According to him, the command staff was composed of russian armed forces officers who are in the reserves or retired. The command-and-staff exercises were reportedly named “Crimean Wake-Up Call.”
“The exercise was dedicated to a Ukrainian Armed Forces airborne assault in Crimea and our measures to repel it. <...> The ‘blue’ side acted unconventionally, making extensive use of the latest detection and strike capabilities. The ‘red’ side was forced to act defensively,” Murakhovsky wrote.
He published a photograph allegedly taken during the command-staff exercises. In it, one can see “blue” arrows originating in the Odesa Region. They are directed toward the western and southern parts of Crimea.
The Insider reports that the multimedia board displays the 1942 topographic coordinate system (SK-42). Virtually all topographic maps of the USSR were compiled using SK-42.
"In other words, this is a standard topographic base map with layers, and, apparently, it is this very base that is used in the SGR (specialized graphics editor—Ed.). ‘Ravelin’ is a specialized graphics editor and software module for Russian law enforcement agencies. It is designed to create and edit operational situational awareness overlaid on digital maps of the terrain,” the publication writes.
As the Ukrainian News agency reported, earlier in June, Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk stated that the russians continue to fortify certain areas of Crimea, fearing a Ukrainian amphibious landing.
Also in June, Robert “Madyar” Brovdi, the commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, stated that Ukraine intends to completely isolate Crimea in the coming months.
