NABU discovers that one of its employees may have been illegally smuggling men across border
While conducting internal control measures, the NABU Internal Control Department uncovered circumstances that may indicate the involvement of one of the Bureau’s employees in activities aimed at illegally smuggling people across Ukraine’s state border.
It was reported by NABU, according to the Ukrainian News agency.
To thoroughly and objectively clarify all the circumstances, a pre-trial and internal investigation have been launched. For the duration of the internal investigation, the NABU employee has been suspended from his official duties.
“NABU adheres to a zero-tolerance policy toward any manifestations of unlawful conduct on the part of its employees. Based on the results of the investigation, a decision will be made in accordance with the requirements of the law,” NABU stated.
As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, during a search of the residence of the head of one of NABU’s detective units, technical devices were discovered that could have been used for covert information gathering. Earlier, law enforcement officials discovered a wiretap device on the head of NABU’s detectives, who is leading the case against Timur Mindich. The Office of the Prosecutor General opened criminal proceedings against Kryvonos’s subordinates for illegally wiretapping lawyers.
