The High Anti-Corruption Court denied a request by Andrii Kobolev, former chairman of the board of Naftogaz, to reduce his bail from UAH 80 million to UAH 5 million, and instead reduced it by UAH 30 million to UAH 50 million, and returned the difference to the guarantor, Concord Consulting.

This is evidenced by court documents, the Ukrainian News agency reports.

As evident from the content of Kobolev’s defense attorney’s motion, Concord Consulting LLC has financial obligations to repay funds that were provided to the company to be used as bail for the former chairman of the board of Naftogaz. In addition, the company needs its own funds to finance a project to build an electricity storage system.

Kobolev and his attorney requested that his bail be reduced from UAH 80 million to UAH 5 million, since there are no longer any risks in the case and in light of his exemplary conduct during the proceedings.

The High Anti-Corruption Court partially granted the motion and reduced the bail by UAH 30 million, from UAH 80 million to UAH 50 million, while returning UAH 30 million to the guarantor, Concord Consulting.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, a High Anti-Corruption Court judge refused to extend certain restrictions in the case regarding the receipt of bonuses for Andrii Kobolev, the former chairman of the board of the Naftogaz NJSC.

Kobolev’s bail was reduced from UAH 107 million to UAH 80 million, and part of the bail was returned to Concord. Kobolev, who is accused of illegally receiving USD 10 million in bonuses, traveled abroad during the war to prepare his stepson for college entrance exams in the United Kingdom. Kobolev’s friends demanded the return of more than UAH 35 million, which they had posted as bail on his behalf. The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) reduced the bail amount for former Naftogaz CEO Andrii Kobolev from UAH 229 million to UAH 107 million.
