Ukraine manages to attract over EUR 550 million to prepare energy system for winter - Vice Prime Minister Shmyhal
Following the URC2026 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk, Ukraine attracted over EUR 550 million in international support to prepare the energy sector for the next autumn-winter period.
This was announced by the First Vice Prime Minister - Minister of Energy of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, the key tasks of participating in the conference were the prompt restoration of energy infrastructure and preparation for winter, as well as reaching agreements on long-term modernization of the energy system. Both areas, as Shmyhal noted, received significant financial support.
In total, more than EUR 550 million in aid was announced for Ukraine's energy sector during URC2026. Of this amount, EUR 375 million were confirmed during the meeting of the "energy Ramstein".
In particular, contributions were made by:
- USA – USD 175 million,
- Sweden – EUR 137 million,
- Norway – EUR 77 million,
- Estonia – EUR 2.125 million,
- Iceland – EUR 550,000,
- Lithuania – EUR 4 million.
Separately, the Netherlands announced the allocation of EUR 178 million, which will be directed to winter preparations and the development of distributed generation.
Shmyhal thanked international partners for their support and emphasized that the assistance contributes to the restoration of energy infrastructure, strengthening its resilience and preparation for the new heating season.
