NBU fines Ukrposhta for UAH 2.5 million

The National Bank applied to the joint-stock company Ukrposhta (EDRPOU 21560045) measures of influence in the form of a fine for violating the requirements of the legislation regulating activities in the payment market, the legislation on consumer protection when providing services in the payment market, as well as in the form of a written warning.

This is stated in the NBU message, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

The Committee on Supervision and Regulation of Banking Activities, Payment Infrastructure Oversight of the National Bank adopted such decisions on June 22.

According to the results of a scheduled inspection of JSC Ukrposhta, which was carried out by the NBU Inspection Department in November 2025 - January 2026, violations of the requirements of the legislation regulating activities in the payment market, and the legislation on consumer protection when providing services in the payment market were identified.

A penalty in the form of a fine of UAH 2,544,900 was imposed on Ukrposhta for violating a number of requirements.

The company is obliged to pay the fine within 14 calendar days from the date of notification.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the National Bank decided that the General Director of Ukrposhta Joint Stock Company, Ihor Smilianskyi, did not meet the requirements for professional suitability established for the head of a financial payment services provider.

After that, Smilianskyi announced that he would file a lawsuit against the National Bank.
