The President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki explained his decision to strip the President of Ukraine of the Polish award.

"A warning signal, but not a change of course," this is how Nawrocki explained the decision to strip Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Poland's highest award.

This was reported by the Polish Radio for Ukraine page on Facebook.

The President of the Republic of Poland emphasized that this step is in the nature of a "warning signal", but does not mean the cessation of support for Ukraine in the war against russia.

Nawrocki called Kyiv's decision regarding the UPA "outrageous and deeply disappointing," given the unprecedented assistance that Poland provided to Ukraine.

The Polish President clearly emphasized that this is not directed against the Ukrainian people. The strategic course remains unchanged: the russian federation is an aggressor, putin is a war criminal, and russian aggression threatens all of Europe, so Poland will continue to support Ukraine.

The decision still needs the countersignature of Prime Minister Donald Tusk for it to come into effect.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, after this decision, the head of the Defense Intelligence Budanov, Foreign Minister Sybiha, and Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Bodnar refused state awards from Poland.
