Apple harvest in Ukraine will be larger than last year

Despite spring frosts and problems with pollination, there is no reason to expect a significant reduction in the apple harvest in Ukraine, and the new season may bring a larger gross harvest than last year.

This is announced by AgroTimes, citing comments by the head of the export company USPA Fruit, Volodymyr Hurzhiy, Ukrainian News Agency reports.

"As of now, I see the new season as exceptionally positive. Today it looks like the harvest should be good. It should be larger than last year," Hurzhiy noted.

According to the expert, despite local losses from frost and rainy weather during flowering, the overall situation in the orchards is currently better than in the previous season, but he warns against overly pessimistic assessments that often appear on the market even before the start of the harvest.

The report says that, according to Hurzhiy, a larger harvest may increase pressure on prices.

In his opinion, the Ukrainian market does not yet have sufficient tools to remove excess volumes of apples from the fresh market.

He also added that the situation is different from last year in the processing segment.

If then high prices for apple concentrate supported the demand for technical apples, now processing enterprises are working with significant product reserves.

Thus, if current forecasts are confirmed, Ukrainian consumers can get more apples at lower prices than last year, while the profitability of producers will increasingly depend on the efficiency of production and sales.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, in early March 2026, the Ukrainian apple market demonstrated a noticeable increase in retail prices.

The situation on the Ukrainian apple market demonstrated a gradual transition to a structurally higher price level, and even despite a fairly good harvest in 2025, prices did not return to the indicators of several years ago.
