US Vice President JD Vance postponed his planned visit to Switzerland, where a new round of talks with Iran on its nuclear program was to take place. The White House explained the decision by difficulties in organizing the meeting.

According to ABC News, the American delegation led by Vance was already ready to leave, but the trip was canceled due to logistical problems. In particular, Iranian representatives did not arrive for the talks against the backdrop of Israel's ongoing military campaign in the region.

At the same time, the postponement of the negotiations came after the US decision to lift restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, which allowed oil tankers to once again freely use one of the world's most important transport corridors.

Meanwhile, the previous agreements between Washington and Tehran have drawn criticism from some Republicans in Congress. Opponents believe that the US administration made excessive concessions to Iran, in particular, easing sanctions and opening up the possibility of large-scale financial support for the country.

Amidst the criticism, Vance personally spoke at the White House in defense of the agreements. According to him, any economic concessions for Iran will depend on its fulfillment of US demands.

"When they increase their good behavior, we can increase economic relief," Vance said.

He added that if the conditions are not met, Washington can quickly cancel the concessions provided.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, the US and Iran have agreed to cease hostilities - they promise to sign a peace treaty on June 19. US President Donald Trump said on June 15 that ships loaded with oil have begun to leave the Strait of Hormuz.
